Cet article se penche sur l’évolution des conditions de travail dans le secteur hospitalier en France au cours des dernières années.De vastes réformes engagées dans le secteur depuis le début des années 1990 ont conduit à de profondes réorganisations. Sont passés en revue l'état des connaissances et des données sur les conditions de travail dans les hôpitaux, les évolutions du rythme de travail et des différentes formes de pénibilité survenues dans les hôpitaux français entre 1998 et 2013. On observe une accélération du rythme de travail du personnel hospitalier au cours de la période étudiée. Cela s'est accompagné d'une légère atténuation des difficultés physiques. Cependant, les conditions de travail dans les hôpitaux restent particulièrement stressantes.
